Anyone Using Computer for Main TV in Lounge?

TBS have a quad DVB-S2 tuner and a quad DVB-T2 tuner. BlackGold have a quad DVB-T2 tuner and plan to bring out a DVB-S2 tuner later in the year.

Not sure what you mean by "server software", it'd just be Windows Server 8 running MediaPortal TV-Server.

not that long ago standard windows desktop drivers wouldnt install on a server o/s

Would be interested to know how much cpu /mermory is required to record four streams / broadcasts simultaneously

Not entirely sure a server is the right place for such a card, but I wish you the best of luck with such a project in the future

(personally think by this time there will be tv's with onboard pvr's , but of course there is always the chance that even same brand /model tv's wont stream a pvr to another tv lol - you know how companies are at times lol)

I currently use an AMD Phenom II x3 in an Antec Fusion Remote Max case to power my HDTV using Media Portal TV Server and various softcams for Sky HD. This allows me to have a 'PC' in the lounge for those moments when I can't be bothered to go to the main PC, but also allows me to stream HD content around my house to various media portal clients.

Eventually the system in the lounge will go in to a cupboard and I will run a client in the lounge as well.

I have recorded 13 channels simultaneously (1x DVB-T multiplex + 1x DVB-S transponder) with the following specs:

Intel Celeron G530
MSI H67MA-E35 (B3)
BGT3630
WD Green 1.5 TB

So rather budget stuff. Recording barely uses any CPU, it's mainly a matter of throughput from the card to your HDD. Remember, even if you're recording 4 DVB-S2 transponder streams at the same time, that's still only ~184 Mbps = 23 MB/s. Not a tough transfer rate for any modern setup.
