hi guys, im using ipcop with virgin at the moment - finding it spot on, does the job very well.

in a few months time i will be leaving virgin and going with O2 broadband.

As o2 is adsl, how would i set up ipcop? would i put username/password into ipcop configuration page? or is this placed into the adsl modem itself?

at the moment its like this:

cable from outside ---> cable modem ---> ipcop box ---> 16 port switch ----> PCs

any ideas?

Thanks!

i noticed in one of the ipcop pages there is a page to setup adsl modems and passwords etc

would i need to use this aswell?

(with virgin, i didnt need to)

Thanks

i *think* 02 doesnt need username and password as i'm with bethere and i dont have to provide username/password in my router

be and 02 use same network

Check the be* forums, both official and unofficial, assuming as an o2 user you can get on the be* forums or they have an equivalent. You should be able to find info on running the bebox (or whatever o2 call it) in bridged mode so it's effectively a dumb modem, just like the one you use with virgin.

I'm with Be, and do something similar:

Speedtouch ADSL modem (bridged mode)------>Linux Box------>Switch--------->PCs

The external interface on the Linux Box, pickups a DHCP IP address from the Be network.

The modem does this for you. You only need all the ADSL config when you have an internal PCI ADSL modem
