My sister has spent years researching our family history but it's all been done with paper and pen. I'd like to convert that to an electronic version.

There seems to be quite a wide choice of genealogy software for OS X.

Does anyone have any recommendations based on actual use? It's all very well reading reviews such as this but I'd like real world recommendations, especially as the winner of that review gets slated on Amazon.

Why not just make a free account on ancestry.co.uk and plug it all in to that? I've got 1300 people in mine with photos, dates, cross references, notes etc all in there for nothing. You only have to pay to use the search engine.

Not really sure I like the idea of doing it online, it just feels wrong.

It's not the privacy thing that bothers me, I'm just not a fan of web apps, I'd much rather have something running locally on my computer.
