Anyone here using satellite broadband?

A client of mine will most likely never get broadband in its current form and is starting to look at satellite as the only viable option.

Just wondered if anyone here has any experiences/recommendations?

Cheers.

iirc its obscenely and prohibitvely expensive, I thought this had more or less died out with the boom of adsl

LLU is probably 10 years away in this part of the world (Torcross, Devon). Not sure a leased line is in the budget to be honest.

Hi

One of our customers in Ireland went Satellite broadband for about a year. Very expensive, high latency and though it was meant to be a 2Mb link they rarely got more than 256k if they were lucky. Also, if they went over their download allowance they were instantly cut off until the end of the month. In the end they went back to their isdn line until they got a wireless broadband package with a local ISP.
