Hi Everyone
I am thinking of buying this card , the Asus GeForce EN8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express).
Just would like to know if it has a good press, cannot afford 2 for SLI at the mo but I would presume it will play all the latest games by itself without any problems ?
cheers
riggie

'Search' button is your friend for one of the 100's of threads covering this topic. Yes it's a good gfx card, you wont need two.

I have a Leadtek 8800GT and it plays everything with decent FPS. UT3 plays with details on max and AA/AF on x4 and I get great FPS. Other games play very well too. Go for it! :)

Excellent card and overclocks like mad due to its twin slow cooler. Stock speed is 600 core, 1800 memory but mine has been up to 745 core / 2090 memory and still passed 3DMark scores

Honestly I cannot fault it.

Mine passes 3DMark06 at 745/1850/2000 but not stable in games at anything over 700/1800/1000.

I had the Asus GT, was an excellent card, it cut through everything with ease, they also have these new coolers on them now which are better than the Nvidia reference ones (which mine had) that they used to have on.

Replaced 2 7600 GS's with just one of these ASUS cards, and have so far been really impressed. Runs Crysis on high at roughly 25-27 FPS on a relatively modest setup (Athlon X2 4600+ at stock speeds, stock card speeds), UT3 runs smoothly and runs HL2 with almost all options on full. Gave a 3d Mark 06 score of roughly 9000 on the same setup. Bigger cooler works well, only complaint is that it i now cheaper than when i bought it!

yes i had the asus 8800gt and is a good card, i miss it tbh and wish i hadnt switched over to crossfire as i think the asus gt performed better than the 2 3870,s i have :(

I have the Asus 8800GT (Not the one with the newer cooler however), and am over the moon with it. Coming from a 7600GS i was always going to be impressed but from opening the box (It does come in one mahoosive box) to playing games it's been a lovely experience.

Running mine at 700/1750/1900 and it's rock stable in everything. I'm sure i can push the memory more i just haven't bothered yet. Those were literally thrown on clocks from the get go.

Cooler does wine a bit when spun up, so im tempted to swap it out for an Accelero S1, though to be perfectly honest, if im ever doing anything that spins up the cooler, i'l have sound blasting out or headphones on. It's a bit of a moot point as far as im concerned.

Hi All
Thanks for the advice, I have now purchased Asus GeForce EN8800 GT 512MB. Just the power supply to sort out now on this new rig. The case I bought is not a high quality one but all the edges are rolled and I haven't lost any skin yet, the power supply that came with it is ezcool 500W and I am sure it aint gonna be up to it, I did a check on the web and this Asus card plus the CPU on a test rig pulled only 264 watts on full load. But I am sure the ezcool rating will be inflated. I know technology is leaping way but this PSU weighs absolutely nothing compared to the old PSU's ! I might try it out just to get the operating system loaded etc.

Pretty good but I guess mines from a better batch, I've just played 2 hours in Stalker at 725/2050 and it's not skipped a beat :)

Yea proberbly is from a better batch, but IMO 700 is enough for me it plays everything I throw at it with the exception of Crysis and EQ2.

yes I agree BaNdy the reason I ask is that the cards and the deals and opinions change by the week, And the card numbers are so confusing you could lose you sanity trying to pick a good one.... I will always trust an enthusiasts point of view way above the manufactures bumph.
