What with all the ongoing maintenance work and derailed train yesterday etc, is it a complete nightmare? I need to go down to Staines (and onwards, fortunately) for work at some point this afternoon so safely before rush hour -- but wondering if it's a bad idea and I should seek an alternative route..

I live in Staines and commute from London some days, hasn't been an issue so far, just expect to add on another 30 minutes. Obv it could go **** up today, but that's the way of the beast ;)

30mins on the train, or waiting at the station etc?

Either! Combo of either a train delay waiting at platform, human congestion at Waterloo or sometimes delayed on the train entering Waterloo.

Aye; those jokers better sort it out as I need to take the same route for a rare outing for a meeting with VMware UK in a few weeks. Not looking forward to it.

Well the works are supposed to finish on the 28th, so should hopefully all be back to normal after that.

I live in Chertsey but commute from Staines and the trains have been fine in the morning. In fact the new 07:33 train from Reading is great, 10 carriages and barely anybody on it, why people cram on 07:29 I don't know.

Its the evenings that seem more messed up.

Hop on the M25 and drive to VMware if you can. Very straight forward :)

By the way, and you may already know this - Staines station is roughly a 20-30 minute walk to VMware which is out over the bridge towards Egham. Make sure you plan that in :)
