Anyone using Wegovy?

Had a yearly health check up several months ago and was on the brink of pre-diabetes.

Decided to try 3 months of Mounjaro to kickstart weight-loss:

Start 9th September: 97kg
Finished 12th December: 80kg

Expected some rebound as I've not increased activity, but I'm weighing in at 83kg now which isn't bad after having several meals out at restaurants in Dec + Christmas period.

All for a reasonably small cost of £360 all-in.

Just need to keep that weight off now.

That's the hard thing from what I understand.

My ideal weight is 85kg. And I'm currently 108kg.

yeah a colleague of mine was previously on Wegovy for her diabetes
she said she lost 7kg whilst on it, but after she came off it (side effects) gained 12kg and the hunger pangs were insane :o

I too have switched to MJ mainly due to cost.

I stopped Wegovy end of November. Had to wait 5 weeks but I left it 6 so I could enjoy xmas. I put on just under 4kg in those 6 weeks.

I've just done the 4th dose of MJ and I'm back to my weight as of the date of stopping wegovy.

No side effects thus far.

Went for a 50+ blood test and saw the nurse in the scheduled follow up.
I’m very overweight, need to lose around 40+kg and asked about wegovy as had yo-yo’d from slimming world (where I lost 70kg) but COVID had me spiralling back up.

Nurse just said “ we don’t do quick fixes here, it’s slimming world only" and skinny nurse then lectures me on it simply being will power.. clearly she finds it easy, so we all should, right?

Anyway, back on slimming world, but still not sure if we give would be worth trying, basically appetite and addictive approach to food are the struggles.. Stress just has me craving food, so really fighting it on all fronts, especially as my daughter is going off the rails at the moment.

How did you all approach this? Why not just diet?

That's them refusing based off budgetary constraints.

If you can afford it, go private. Seriously.... but get MJ.

It should remove that craving.

I know being an uncontrolled diabetic I'm different than nearly all you in here but I'd love to know why it hasn't stopped mine.
It hasn't bought my bloods down either.
For me it hasn't done nothing up to yet.
How many weeks?

My father uses it due to being diabetic. His didn't really start effecting him till week 4

Tier 3 Diabetic Nurses have no problems with my diet.
I've even been on the Desmonds course twice.
Sure - it's just been my experience that wegovy did not miraculously enable me to eat carbs without consequences (I get terrible headaches, glycemic crashes when I eat carbs, and no weight loss). Cutting them out makes me feel a load better. And by carbs I'm talking things like bread, pasta and rice in sane quantities, not loads of sweets or sugar.

A low carb diet is amazing for weight loss imo and should mean not going hungry. I keep seeing positive stories about these slimming drugs and it's crossed my mind to try it but my family are really against these drugs having heard scare stories. I can do it without drugs, I lost 91 lbs in 2022 with willpower but I've put back on 2/3's of it.

I'm diabetic(type 2) and always stuggled with my weight. I over eat. I was 119kg and my blood sugar was always high. I asked the gp if i could try Ozempic after reading about it. She referred me to the diabetic clinic at the hospital as they have to prescribe it first. I didn't even have to ask as they just suggested it. That was April 2023. I started on the low dose and worked up to the max 1mg for a diabetic maintenence dose . I had no ill effects and started to lose weight. I really didn't want to eat much which was great. Over about 8 months i got down to Around 101 and was very happy. My blood sugar levels dropped to a steady 6 as an average so all good. However i then stopped losing weight which was disappointing. I stayed steady for a while and then i noticed i started putting some weight back on. I am able to and want to eat more. My weight is back up to 108kg. I've asked several gp's if my dose could be upped to the max 2mg dose of Oaempic but they aren't listening. I have tried all sorts of diets over the years with mixed results but always put it all back and more. I'm 58 and riddled with Arthrits so most excercise is out.
I'm wondering if i could supplement the Ozempic with a small dose of mounjaro privately to kick start the lose agaim. It's the same active ingredient.

I don't think they would allow the mix.

Just go private and ask for an increased dose. Or to move to MJ

I can't change as my Ozempic is given by prescription due to Diabetes. But i have read that as they all use the same active ingredient they "can" be mixed. But i'm not sure. I could get 0.5mg Ozempic privately i guess. But for weight lose i think MJ is superior so not sure what to do.

are you getting insulin shots as well?
if so, seeing glucose level is managed, ask doctors reduce/drop insulin first before jumping to mixing online drugs

and I do recommend low carb diet to manage arthritis and maybe the overeat issues
