I have a simple page for what i hope will help me get a bit of work in for PC support

http://www.redstartechnology.com/

It's very basic, would appreciate peoples views and if anyone wants to or thinks they can improve it then they are more than welcome too, im a bit skint but would happly post a box for chocs to show my appreciation!

views welcome anyway

So your company offers web design, yet you're asking for help with your own website, which uses tables for layout?

i was waiting for someone to pick up on that :D - i will be out sourcing that if i get any, i just thought i would add that so i was not short sited :D

You know the red star is a traditional symbol of communism, right? Just a thought...

And the fact its an "industrial feel" to it doesnt help the above trail of thought. I would look at maybe putting a white border round the start to soften it up a bit and avoid any "communist thoughts"

well is anyone willing to improve it? as you can see it's very basic, but would welcome a pro having a pop at improvement?

What's the point in offering web design if it's not something you can actually do? You'll just be outsourcing it, pushing up the price of the site because you'll be taking a cut of the money for connecting the client to the designer.

If you're offering graphic design, you should have a portfolio of your work. What flyers and business cards have you made and for who?

Specialising in Home PC support, data recovery, Laptop repairs, Graphic and Web Design, Red Star Technology operates in Southampton

That line makes you a jack of all trades master of none. You should stick to IT support if you've been doing that for 10 years. Maybe explain who you've worked for, have testimonials on the site from past clients.

I suppose my point is that offering something that you're obviously not qualified to do makes you look a bit amateurish. You offer web design, yet anyone who knows the first thing about web design can see that your site isn't coded to modern standards. That could well cause people to be prejudiced about the quality of your other work.

indeed points taken, basically if i out source web work i wont charge or take a cut. My brother will be back from America next month and is a graphic designer, i added that on so i could pass work on his way (he is established and works for a large company but also freelances with a big portfolio) im more hardware / software, all i ever do is upgrades and virus removal anyway :) - its a side job to earn a bit of extra cash. Im not looking to rake in customers by the bucket, more a case of giving out my basic businesses card and them looking at the site for more info.

so anyone wanna re work this for me or is that too much of a ask?
