Anyone willing to try something out with an AMD X6?

I've had a bit of an idea with the new X6 AMD processors.

Many have said they perform on a level with the X4, even when overclocked (to the same-ish level). I was wondering whether someone could disable two of the cores in the BIOS, and see whether they could be pushed further than the 3.8/4GHz that most seem to be getting (X6 1055 and X6 1090T respectively).

It would be nice to see if there's an improvement, especially when compared with a X4.

Cheers

What do you mean?

you want to see if disabling 2 of the cores allows you to clock higher?

You can push as high as you want (6ghz under LN2) it all depends on what cooling you are using and what volts you are willing to put through your CPU, can they be pushed higher than 4Ghz on normal cooling and voltages...it doesn't seem so, the most ive seen stable at 1.5Vcore is 4.2 on a 1090T.

With these CPUs (for me anyway) temps don't seem to be a problem its how many volts you are willing to give it for a 24/7 clock.

If you want top performance get an I7, i have had both and a 920 DO is better than a 1090T.

I guess he means if you disable two cores, you should only be produces 2/3 heat, so you might be able to overlclock those remaining 4 cores even higher.

I was just curious is all. I know most AMD CPUs aren't limited by heat (mine certainly wasn't, but just didn't want to go to 3.8GHz, would do 3.75 just fine).

I guess, having the same TDP these are the same...

AMD say max volts are something like 1.425V, so there's plenty to play with I guess.

I was just wondering whether a 4-cored X6 would clock higher than a 6-cored X6.
