Anyone wished Apple didn't stop making iPods?

I love mine 6th Gen 256gb. The battery lasts longer than if I played music on my iPhone. iPods are lighter. Plus some friends miss the iPod shuffle, which simply clipped onto some clothing and more practical for jogging, in the gym etc.

There's times I miss having a dedicated MP3 player and the iPod was a beast at what it did. I remember getting an iPod shuffle from work one year. Was good to clip in but the cabled headphones made it annoying.

Though do I really miss them or is it just gadget nostalgia? It's much more convenient using a iPhone to cover all basis and in theory you can hold infinite amount of music due to the ability to have a connection and stream. I'd also argue that an Apple Watch with some AirPods is also a superior solution for listening to music whilst exercising than an iPod shuffle.

Do any of the Android-based modern MP3 players support Apple Music? If so, that may be as close as you’ll get.

EDIT - the Astell & Kern ones at least do. Would be interesting to see if you can get lossless on a non-Apple player with a headphone socket.

At the point at which ipods became popular - and equivalent devices - I just went straight to buying a mobile phone that could play music decently as well. I recall around 2005 ish. I've always been about carrying as little as possible about with me.

I had one of those K800i's and maybe a "W" model something or other. Yeah they were good.
Yeah, I had the W810i then my first contract phone, in my own name (thanks for the n-gage, mum), was the W950i. Then the iPhone 3G launched and stupid 18 year old me had two contract phones lol.

Burner phone for the drug dealing you mean? :)

I remember sometimes getting highly sought after phones on contract up front, and then selling the phone for an instant win of monies like a peasant, then carrying on with my current phone swapping the sim in, feeling like a gangsta. Call it an early sim only methodology. :)

Yup, i wished they still did a 'classic' type model as the iPod is one of the most intuitive audio players going. Newer Android based audio players are pretty terrible UI-wise, even if they do have better DACs/audio and can play a lot more formats (flac etc; although there is Rockbox for iPods).

Still have a 'Classic' 160GB 6th gen for car use and a 5th gen 'video' in bits that needs repairing and perhaps modding (change to SD and audio/capacitor mod maybe).

Shuffle been replaced by a watch and much more practical than the shuffle!

It’s an interesting thought it’d need to have an esim with access to Apple Music, USB-C and super lightweight with great battery life. Wouldn’t really need much more than 16gb
