There seems to be an issue with the driver crashing often, enlarged cursor and sometimes blue screening. Does anyone else get this? I'm using the latest drivers, perhaps someone has found using an older driver helped? Cheers.

It is related to Powerplay. Basically you need to make the 2D clocks higher.

You can use AMD GPU Clock Tool to disable Powerplay or MSI Afterburner to set up a desktop clockspeed profile and gaming profile. You can also try updating the BIOS of your graphics card, there is a fix for this built into the latest ones IIRC.

He didn't mention anything about grey screens. He DID mention enlarged cursor, driver crashing etc which are all related to Powerplay / 2D clocks.

I used to get the "ATI Display driver has stopped responding" but haven't seen that since updating to 10.2.
Still getting the massive cursor mind :)
Will try the 10.3 beta's and report back.

The enlarged cursor is an indicative symoptom of the GSOD issue that were supposed to have been solved in the 10.2 release. (see the release notes), but has continued to occur in a number of cases. See the links I posted earlier.
Flashing BIOS will void any warranty. I have been advised by ATi that they are working in 10.3 to remove these crashes. If they continue to occur after 10.3, then RMA the card whilst it's still in the warranty period.

I had the exact same problem, im on win 7 64 bit i changed to 10.1 drivers now pc aint crashed in days trust me try 10.1 drivers

...im onto my 3rd card .... after 2 cards crashing i ended up changing from an Asus to Sapphire and so far everything is running ok ......

Only problem I had was the 10.1 drivers didnt let my screen go into power saving. 10.2 beta (and 10.2 release) fixed that problem. Absolutely no problems since. No grey screen, no funny cursors.. no problems of any kind.. Powerplay is working just fine and I love it.. PC uses so much less power compared to my old 8800GTX especially in idle, but a good saving at full load too.

I have a single 5850, a Q6700 processor on an old Intel 975XBX (which officially doesnt even support quads, but works fine up to about 3.4Ghz) 6GB ram and Windows 7 64bit.
