Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R mobo
Windows XP SP2
Build has been running fine for weeks. No issues. All of a sudden....sound stuttering, skipping and jumping during playback. Same in media player, winamp. Sound generally affected. So, thinking this might be an issue with the Realtek on board sound I decide to uninstall drivers and start a fresh. I made sure I uninstalled properly using driver cleaner and that the Microsoft 888111 patch for HD Audio is installed prior to re-installing Realtek drivers, and now when I go to install drivers for Realtek, I just get a "Failed to install HD Audio driver" half way through setup. I tried using latest drivers for Realtek. Rebooting and installing in safe mode, disabling on board sound, but I can never get the realtek driver to install.

I have seen on google that someone else has had issues whereby they though the issue initially was related to running Raid on ICH9R which I am. But, I'm not sacrificing my Raid array for sound that works. Should all work out the box. I'm close to reformatting to get this working or buying another sound card to see if it follows the problem. Anyone any advice as I can't get sound at all now. Completely borked.
Cheers
