I was just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with F-stop Gear camera bags?

I'm thinking of getting one of these but I'm having trouble locating any decent reviews of the bags and it's a fair chunk of money to spend on a bag if it's not going to last.

Cheers

Thanks olv I'll give it a read.

If anyone has any first hand experience with the kit I'd be interested to hear about it too.

I was sent two F-Stop bags by Canon and to be honest they're functional but not great. They would have been great if they fully opened. What happens is that you can't get the camera towards the bottom of the bag out without a fight.

The ones I have are called F-Stop Black Box (looks like it's the Street Pro on their website). If it wasn't for the fact they were freebies I wouldn't be using them. Not bad bags, just not that great either.

I have an F-stop Tilopa BC, by far the best camera bag I have ever come across. With a medium ICU it happily take a full days camera gear and mountain equipment. had it on mount hood and had space for ice-axe, crampons, avalanche shovel and probe, spare clothing, rope, harness, skins and carrying skis with ease.

The Loka looks perfect for days with less mountain gear.

The only downsides to me are that I really go for lightweight backpacks and try to get my hardware trimmed to the lightest possible. The F-stop are light for the type of bag and quality but if you don't fill it up adds a lot of weight for a more minimilist trip. Not an issue when you take your camera gear because then you are sacrificing weight anyway and you appreciate the construction/ICU/support, but if you use it as a stand alone bag it is about twice the weight of my other backpacks.

Interesting. Do the bags you were sent have the removable inner that holds all of the photo gear? I've looked at the product pic online and I agree it looks like it might be a bit of a bugger to get things in and out right at the bottom as it looks like a double layer of fabric needs to be folded back for access.

If you had to choose a bag to get a 5DII, 70-200mm F/2.8, 100mm macro and a couple of primes along with an assortment of memory cards batteries etc around Switzerland for a bit of hiking and other activities what would you go for?

I currently have a Crumpler Muffin Top slim, which is fine for a day out in the UK with a few lenses but isn't big enough to get all of the gear I want to take on holiday in.

That's good to know D.P. I'm not too concerned about weight but the bag needs to be suitable for airline hand luggage which is what has put me off of some of the bigger F-stop bags than the Kenti (and indeed bigger bags from other brands).

I had a Loka and loved it, really comfy and tonnes of space. really well built.

had a mala shoulder bag too which was also really good.

I did have a review of both over on the TP reviews section if that helps.

I recently grabbed the Fstop District messanger bag...rock solid and discreet around lonon. Loads of space for my kit etc..very sturdy.

I've got a Loka and I really like it. I've previously had various Lowepro bags and it's nicer than any of them. Comfortable, versatile and well-built. It a shame that they can be hard to get hold of, but apparently that's due to change.
