Can anyone with the Roku streaming stick+ tell me if the Amazon app is HDR capable? A mate has just bought one and he's getting HDR fine in Netflix and YouTube but the Amazon app just will not do HDR for him.
I have to admit that Rokus are the streaming device I am least familiar with having never owned one so I can't answer his query and google is telling me nothing useful :(

Just my opinion based on how dated the Amazon app is on the Roku platform compared to the other providers who update their apps. Amazon do sell Roku devices but I'm sure they'd rather you purchase their fire TV's so I'm sure are in no rush to update and include HDR for supported devices. But like I say, just my opinion so yes it is conjecture.

After much research and a crash course in the Roku I've found out that apparently the Amazon app is created by Roku themselves in conjunction with Amazon hence it looking really dated.

maybe this is mightytens' issue ... finding the content is obscure?

Roku Ultra and Amazon HDR not working

No (but thanks for the search and find :)) it is apparently down to the fact that UK Amazon channel is not yet HDR enabled although the US one is , HDR is coming allegedly but still hasn't dropped yet. One feature I do like after having a play with my mates SS+ is the frequency switching that works across all Channels so Netflix, Amazon and even iPlayer play back content at the correct frame rate although it does seem to cause fairly frequent HDCP handshake issues with OS8.01 at the moment but Roku are apparently working on that. The downside, like the Shield TV, is there is no resolution switching for content so everything is stuck at 3840x2160p with the stick doing the upscaling, which is not ideal.

For a little device though I am extremely impressed and all running extremely well powered by a TV USB socket.
