Okies, random question of the day peeps :p
Finally had enough of the shower that's Virgin Media, and I'm strongly considering moving my connection to Sky. Been on 10mb with Virgin for the past 6 years, and the ping/ packetloss in the evenings has gone to absolute pot.

The Sky site gives me an estimated connection speed of 5- 11mbps, versus the BT estimate of ~6mbps, hence the title- Looking for real world figures in Norwich before I make the jump.

I am NR6 which is same exchange.

I think I am 6mb which is what I got with BT and Bulldog and all my line is capable of which is annoying as house is only 7 years old. My nan in a 50 year old house in Hellesdon though gets a nice 18mb and is further from the same exchange as well :(

Not had any problems with sky, not had to reboot router since I replaced it with a new one about a year ago. 90% of my activity is during peak times and never had a problem with things grinding to a halt

Hmm, trying to think if that's near NR7

If so, the most we could get was 2mb on both bt and sky.

I'm in Gertrude Road, up near the ringroad on Sprowston Road :)
I'm hoping the BT estimate is a conservative one TBQH- I don't want to drop too much :o

Only exchange without a FTC date sadly :(
VM packetloss and ping in the evenings is now at stupid levels (1,000 plus ping ~60% packetloss) since the uni came back, and basically unusable.

Slightly off topic, but is this the norm with Virgin now?? I've never been with them myself but my relatives are and they have always raved about how "unrestricted" the service from Virgin is. Is this down to the package they are on?

It seems like more and more people are starting to leave them from reading things on here.

We're on 50mbps Virgin in the NR2 area (West Norwich) and never really had a problem with it, though I haven't really looked at the pings in too much detail recently as I haven't been gaming much online. Download speed and general browsing is fine though.

It's an area problem :)
Some areas are completely fudged (Oversubscribed), others are still fine.
Download speeds aren't too bad, I'm just suffering from an utter inability to play BF2 :p

Oh, is NR3 near the uni? I mist be the complete opposite side of the city, in Dussindale. I think our exchange may be getting fibre soon, but not entirely sure.

Fail on my part, apologies.
