Anyone with their Vives do a test for me please?

When you're in the steam vr menu and you look at your controllers up close, do you see blurry text on the HTC logo's? I'm sure I read that the lenses are fixed focal length and you should be able to see text close without it blurring?

Overall the sweet spot for clean images is pretty low... seems to be centre of the lenses only for clean, clear images. Anyone else had this issue? I have measured my IPD at around 60mm (a tad lower) and set the IPD to the minimum, which happens to be 60mm and adjusted the HMD so it sits centre with my eyes and have the back strap low down.

IMO the "sweet spot" is slightly bigger than I was led to believe, it's hard to convey in words but I would say around a quarter of the view in from around the edges is where it is most blurry, and then to me anyway, everything else is pretty much the same. It's not like the blurry mess I thought it might be, stuff is still legible, just not as clear. I certainly don't find I have to look perfectly dead ahead all the time to make things out.

As for the HTC text on the controllers, yes it's not razor sharp but now I've found a comfort level with my glasses on (wasn't using them since launch) it does appear slightly sharper to the point I wouldn't call it blurry, but more smoothed out.

The problem is everyone perceives everything differently, so what seems right to me might look off to you. Also adjusting the HMD and getting it to sit right on your head makes a massive difference, I've only just this morning found a perfectly comfortable setting where there is little pressure on my face yet it feels stable and clear.

Yes, I concede that everyone will see things differently and that everyone's eyesight is obviously not the same, but I was just mainly wondering if the optics in my Vive were faulty. I don't remember the blurry images being this bad on the Pre when I tested it out at PC World. Problem is I can't test anyone else's Vive as I don't know anyone with one.

Basically is the image on text when placed closed to your head and directly in front of the HMD supposed to blur because this is the way vision works? It's obviously impossible to focus in on something too close to your eyes?

Although hard to tell as I don't know what you're seeing, it sounds similar to my experience Extremely close it tends to blur a little, maybe 6 inches away it becomes a bit clearer.

It's still legible though, so I would say unless you absolutely can't make the HTC writing out then it's OK.

Oh I can make out the letters! They are blurry, but eligible. Sounds like it's just the way it is supposed to be then:) Thanks:)
