Need some OCUK help plz! My car went in for a routine 90k service on Friday and unfortunately on Monday on the way to work the airbag fault light has come on. Reading around, apparently this is quite common on MK5 golfs.

I have disconnected the battery and checked all the connections under the seats but without knowing the fault code I am stuck. I am working 6 am till 6:30 pm everyday so dropping into a dealership is not an option.

Just wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me out please. Work is Central London so anywhere along the A40 would be useful.

Thanks

P.S. Apparently the fault code means all my airbags are deactivated :(

I would look at investing in your own personally, if your keeping your golf for a period of time. Im going to buy one when I start looking around at TT's, they seem invaluable.

I agree with that. Just haven't got round to getting one despite having 2 golfs in the household!

Any recommendations on which one, Ross-tech is meant to be very good apparently.

Ross Tech is the only (sensible) option really. They are the creators of VAG com if I'm not mistaken, although I usually am

Well the basic software is free to download. It will give you the fault codes (it just won't let you mess around with any settings). so its just a case of getting the right cable for your car and your laptop.

Although I think the more modern cars require a pricey cable. Might be worth having a look on a VW forum.
