Had this router for a few years, it's on the latest firmware now. It was function with Sky Fibre at our old address with no issues, with the BT fibre modem.

When we moved in Feb to our new house, Fibre wasn't in the area. Brodband we knew would be a bit ropey as we are a few miles from the exchange. Anyway, we went with it, plugged in the Draytek and opted for Zen. Literally, since we moved in we had maybe 1 or 2mbs but more often than not, around 0.5-0.8mbs with crazy pings, sometimes in the 1500ms category. Numerous calls to Zen and they did offer to send an engineer to assess the line but I never bothered as Fibre was soon to be released in our area.

Well, today, it's hear. BT engineer came, BT fibre modem, plugged in Draytek, set it to PPPoE, username and password and connected.

Guess what, still 1mb. Ping is great, 16ms or less, but running a speed test just seems to literally bounce of the 1mb..

I have no idea whether I have an issue with my Draytek, unsure of the best settings, or that there is a serious degredation issue between the house and the cabinet.

Looking for some help really, or config of anyone who has Zen with fibre.

Thanks

I assume you've confirmed that it isn't a PC issue?

There's no reason why a 2920 would cause any problems. IIRC it used to be one of the options Zen offered. I use one with my Plusnet FTTC connection and it's fine.

They can occasionally play up after flashing the firmware so it's worth resetting it back to default and reconfiguring from scratch.

For test purposes you also have the option of connecting a PC directly to the OR modem and configuring the PPPoE connection in Windows.

yeah defo not PC, otherwise all 5 in the house have issues :)

I'll rule out the draytek by connecting straight to the OR modem and see whats what.

I flashed the RST fimrware today, and just went back through the settings and yippee, getting 50mbs now. Happy with as told we were only likely to get 32mbs :)
