Would soaking in bicarb not take away the taste? Either that or try to mask it with a more pleasant taste?

A lot of people actually do this though, I've noticed it in my local gym. Not *****, its just a clever way of saving money if you drink lucozade.
 
I would suggest that if you don't like the taste of the bottle, soak it in a mild solution of Milton. This will clean it and take the taste away.

Really? I fill up empty lucozade (energy) at the gym, I don't get where the "*****" aspect comes from?

I took a full bottle of lucozade with me, then fill it up with water once I've drank the lucozade.
