Anyone worked for Aldi?

Hi all, as the title says, I've got an interview at Aldi which is on Monday at the local job centre.

Has anyone got any experience of the process? The man who rang me works for a recruitment company not for Aldi, so the details were sparse, but he said that if you get past this stage you go on to have a group interview; but I do not know any more than that.

Couple of questions too:

I have a drivers' license, but not a car, will this be a hindrance? (I can get there on the train.)

Apparently they're really funny about criminal records, and I have a caution or whatever it's called because I got busted with a bag of weed when I was 15, should I mention this?

Thanks in advance.

If it's for an in store job I doubt not having a car would be an issue or even come up in conversation. I wouldnt mention the criminal record bit unless asked. Good luck.

If they ask if you have any convictions say no.

However, my sister worked for Aldi a few yeard back and she had to pay her own tax and NI.

But he only loses what he didnt have to begin with... Which I think is the above posters point.

Yeah exactly. I meant it more tongue in cheek though. Getting sacked for any reason is probably worse for your future than petty convictions.

The problem the OP has is that he will never get a job if they ask about criminal convictions and he mentions weed even if it was when he was 15 and he wasn't properly convicted.

ignore this as you can lose your job over this. If they ask you MUST be honest, however if they don't ask you don't need to say

Check online, depending on the time from when you got your caution to present day under the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974..

Here's a link that answers your question. There is a section that deals with "Cautions" near the bottom.

Don't let it hang over your head, I did. And it stopped me applying for jobs I really wanted to do for years. When I actually had nothing to worry about even though I had the proverbial rap sheet as long as my arm..

Link - Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Think Aldi is classed as self employed ?

Sorry if this has been answered already, posted before I got to the end. Good luck.

i wouldnt mention it.

its probably expired or was 'spent' when you turned 18 and if it did show up (doubtful that they would be doing an enchanced disclosure) you could probably argue that you cant remember that it was a proper caution

Looks like you both missed the point. Not being funny, just that some of the results point to useful tips from people who have experience of an Aldi interview.

You're probably not aware and did it unmaliciously but providing a link using that website is viewed as an underhand way of saying 'Can't you search on google, stupid?'

A friendlier way is to actually link to pages with relevant information.
