I ask this because I have an interview for the brand new Crewe store that is yet to open. My interview is on Wednesday. Any ideas of what to expect in an interview for these?

really? there's a companpy called cex?
well just tell them how much you love cex and would do anyything fot cex.

Welcome to the tri monthly ' has anybody worked for I have an interview with' jaffa far fetched topic.

Worked in one (Bexleyheath) for over a year.

The interview will ask about your knowledge of films/games/technology etc, providing you can talk about one of these in a semi-understandable way they will most likely offer you the job.

If the store is already open and trading, expect to be invited to undertake a trial day (basically a day of unpaid work) where they will properly evaluate your performance, and then proceed to hire you regardless of how you perform.

Also as above, everyone below Supervisor is on a 0 hour contract.

Wont be for long ;) Ok quite long, but not ages :p

CEX was probably the funniest interview I'll ever have. I walked in, the manager asked me "what's the latest blackberry out?" I said "9900" and he basically told me I'd got the job. Not the greatest of places to work and management is usually hilariously incompetent, to the extent that I was frequently asked to do stuff that they couldn't do.

Some of the staff I got along well with, most were borderline retarded. Not a bad job if you're just doing it part time but I'd never be able to work there full time.

But the can, and do. Job market is rather sucky at the moment :(

It's ridiculous though. Recruiting costs money, sometimes that money might be spent having to re-advertise the position when you have to let the previous person go during their probation period. Deal with it.

Being bad at interviewing candidates isn't an excuse to take a day up out of their job searching / self-employed earning time, use them as employees and then not pay them for it.

Edit: And to the person without a contract, you really need to sort that ASAP, run it up the chain. Because at the moment you're probably at that point where you feel secure enough to be able to commit financially to things without anything to back that up.
