Tried plugging my ipod touch into its usb cable today and it wouldnt sync, it wouldn't register there being a device there, I had a fiddle with the cable and had to pull the cable up whilst in the socket and hold it there for it to sync. The iPod hasn't even been out of the house yet and hasnt taken a knock or drop, i dont know if its the cable or not but i tried one of my old firewire cables from the 1st/2nd gen ipod and it charged fine but these cables are the ones with the locking buttons on the side of them and are a bit more robust than the USB cables they give now, and lastly you can't sync with a FW cable anymore only charge.

Anyone else had a similar problem? I suppose its best i get hold of another USB cable then then if not try taking it back. Only had it since the 27th Dec.

They'll replace the cable, it's under the 14 day grace period and well within the 1 year warranty they offer.

Try calling them :)

Yeh I thought they would, but i'm more worried about if its a connection in the actual iPod. I've rung my sister and shes gonna bring me her USB cable over the weekened hopefully. If it still doesnt work with that then i'll have to take the iPod back to where I bought it from.

Don't have another iPod cable to try?

In fact I use my iPod Classic cable with my iPhone purely because of the way it has the 2 buttons to release the cable.
