i have decided to upgrade from my bust soney ericson T610. I also was thinking of buying a camera, so why not kill two birds with 1 stone.
i have looked around for phones with good cameras and i have decided i like the d600, purely because of the slide. but they are quite expensive. so would it be worth waiting for some new phones to come out before i buy a d600 or should i just go and spend £200 on ebay?

Nokia N70 has a 2mp camera.

To be honest though if you're thinking of buying a camera, do that, phone cameras just aren't as good as having a half decent 4 or 5+ mp digital camera. You'll probably end up doing that after having the phone for a few weeks anyway.

Besides the D600 and the W800i, there's also the Motorola V3X, Sony Ericcson K750i and the Nokia N70.

The cheapest out of that lot I think would be the K750i, good camera on it too :)

Cameras on phones, even at 2mp, don't even come close to a porper camera. Depends on your needs really. They also seem to still be bad in low light.

w900i

here are some pics ive taken - very impressive for a phone imo

it doesnt handle the dark that well, but the flash isnt too bad.
the autofocus is great imo, although i think the N90 would be better

iirc the k750i and w800i have exactly the same camera

Not entirely true. My k750 has an excellent picture quality (other than the 2mp) but as you said when its indoors it gets a bit grainy and there are some lines on the picture. Sony do a lash that goes with the k750 which is supposedly very good although i havent tried it. Ill upload a pic i took with my phone to show you.

it's bit of a bugger trying to play it on the keypad though. but as for looks/sounds - it's a carbon copy of the original. :D
Yup, awkward but fun :) Was playing it for a bit in work yesterday :o

heres a sample pic taken with the N70

as you can see, its not the best quality in low light as the flash and lens are both very small.

Phone cam is great for taking photos out and about, but can never replace a proper digital camera.

well i need a new fone and the phone cameras are better than i thought, i dnt want the camera for serious photos tho as i have my minolta A2 dimage <3 but im not guna take that out and about with me.
cheers for the help

here's some pics from another forum that persuaded me to buy the vs6.....

:)

outdoor shots arent a problem for camera phones

its the indoor ones with low light that are the problem

in low light, you need a nice big apperture and a good flash

camera phones have neither, and this is where you'll find yourself needing a proper camera.

But sony have actually produced a poper flash for the K750 as an aftermarket piece and it sorts out the light problem. I dont know abut appertures though but i do know the K750 has an actual moveable lens, you can feel it moving when you take a picture although i dont know how much difference it actually makes.

thats the autofocus, you should always press the button down halfway and wait til the square goes green before you press it down all the way

I've found that even the 3mp Camera on my Sharp 903 cant come close to my old 2mp Canon Ixus, camera phones have a LONG way to go.
