Hey guys as some of you may know i have recently purchased a new PC. I am currently using a crappy Sandstrom keyboard, and some crappy mouse from the pound shop probably.

Now that i am getting paid i need to upgrade to something i can use without making me feel sick.

I am currently looking at the following, and want to know if anyone can recommend anything that may be better for around the same price. (note: after looking at reviews on the keyboard, im in love with it)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Saitek Cyborg V7 Illuminated Gaming Keyboard £59.99
1 x Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 3 3500 DPI Gaming Mouse £39.95
1 x Roccat Sense Chrome Blue Gaming Mousepad - 2mm £17.99
Total : £117.92 (includes shipping : FREE).

Thanks
Dan

i find saitek stuff to be awful, from experience they fail (sometimes its just the backlights though, which im not fussed about tbh).

Id go for any mechanical keyboard over a V7, i had the older looking one of them, and it died after around 6 months.

oh, and its not me abusing said products either, i have loads of keyboards and mice, and only these have failed after everyday use :D

meh, i dont stick to a brand.... at the moment i have a gigabyte aivia and a Thermaltake mekka as my main 2 keyboards, ive also got numerous other non mech keyboards.

Logitech are good dont get me wrong, but i dont have any more or less issues with the other brands (other than Saitek of course)

Logitech and Saitek are ok for casual gaming use and looking fancy but as someone who does a lot of typing (programming) and heavy FPS gaming I kill em in about 6 months tops. I'm fairly careful with my peripherals to just they get heavy use.

Unfortunatly the hardware I use is probably plainer and more functional than what your looking for so wouldn't really help as a reccomendation I do highly reccomend giving the zowie mice a gander though.

To add some fuel to the debate, I find Logitech mice horribly uncomfortable in the hand, and a bit 'vague' in terms of accuracy; I also have stumpy fingers, so this is very much personal preference. The button placement on the G500 is a particular gripe with me.
R.A.T mice (and the original Saitek Cyborg) on the other hand, fit my paws like a glove, and have always been very comfortable (despite looking like a torture device).
Horses for courses, but shows it's worth trying a few options in the hand before purchasing.

I would suggest going for a mechanical keyboard too, should last a good while longer as already suggested and you have a great choice of switches/ features available now.

The RAT 3 is definitely a niche object, but in terms of raw mouse performance it's pretty decent - uses a really good avago optical sensor; it just won't fit some peoples hands very well :p

The logitech G400 is a great mouse too, though you can't seem to buy them on OCUK anymore as it's been replaced by the G400s (which is more expensive) - but might be able to find one somewhere else.

Other options include any version of the Razer Deathadder or the Roccat Savu - both very good mice. The main thing has to be comfort though, then it comes down to what features you want from the mouse, like DPI buttons & colours etc.

Ok this has given me something to think about, plenty of mixed reviews on the saitek stuff.

I will see if I can find a mechanical keyboard in a local store to try out.

Thanks for the input guys, I will look at reviews for the items that you have suggested.
