Looking to get the following from Dell. Can't seem to find anything else that matches the spec but maybe theres something I've missed while looking :

I'll be ordering a 4GB upgrade from Crucial for £60 and sell the original 2GB as Dell wanted £90 + vat to upgrade to 4GB

So will work out to approx. £645

Anything else anyone would recommend at that spec/price point for a 17" ? I want to play a few games so don't want to go to a 1920x1200 screen and don't want to go any lower spec on the GFX. Closest I've found was an Acer 6920 Gemstone which was 16" with a slightly better GFX (9500M GS) but lower CPU (T5750).

I doubt it; a top new Vostro 1710 is £645 with a 2.1 ghz T8100 / 3072mb / 8600M GS. Upgrading to a T8300 on that build is £80 + VAT.

Looks like a great deal for £600.

Thats brand new with standard warranty. Looks like a special deal on that particular model as it has limited choices. Just upgraded the GFX from a 8400 GS to the 8600 GT for £40 and changed the screen to a TrueLife for £20 and added a bag to it. Its on the business side rather than the home side though......maybe thats why ?

Edit: Ah I see its the Vostro 1700, not the 1710. Old design is a bit fugly.
