A colleague has brought his rig around saying it won't post and he thinks it's the graphics card as it started flickering and then just powered off.
It's a 9800GX2 so a bit old now. In his rig, hit the power button, doesn't post and the fan sits at 100%, after a short while a single beep. Power LEDs on the 6 and 8 pin are green. Reseated the card, tried the other PCI-E x16 slot but still the same result.
Tried a cheapo HD3470 in his rig and that powered up fine, although it doesnt require PCI-E power cables so not a true test of whether the PSU is on its way out too.
Popped the card in my gaming rig and the same happens, doesnt post and the fan on the card sits at 100% (quite deafening too) and I know that rig is giving enough juice as it currently powers two R6950's crossfired.
Anything else to try before I make him get the credit card out?
