Going for a new mb, cpu, cooler and ram.

Want something to run around 4.5ghz and be fairly safe for the future.

Anything anyone would change here :

Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor £269.99

MSI Z87 Mpower SP Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £149.99

Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz £119.99

Corsair Hydro H110 280mm £94.99

Total : £646.36

Any thoughts anyone ?

Thanks for the help!

im going to be honest, we don't know a huge amount about the Mpower SP as its brnad new board but if it is just the standard Mpower board without bluetooth and wifi (how they are marketing it) theres no reason why you should get the OC instead.

The OC is one of the best rated boards in the Z87 and well loved as it was cheaper than the Mpower (by a fair amount).. If this SP has the smae components (heat and voltage regulation and all that gubbins) it should be on par, if not very close to the OC's standard.

Like i say i appeared yesterday so very little is known about it.

Yeah? It looks good. Any particular reason for the change ?

Thanks!

For me the OC is a known quantity, as DS said the MPower is a bit of a unknown.

If you want a reliable 4.5Ghz then the OC will deliver this with 0 issues.

Reality is its horses for courses and down to personal preference.

Great stuff. Thanks guys. I'm not massively fussy on the mb, sounds like there are lots of options, so I'll check out the gigabyte one too if its so well loved.

Plus, you can get those Tactical Tracer RAM modules you've selected with orange LEDs, which will match the Z87X-OC's colour scheme.

I believe you can configure them so that it only shows the orange LEDs.

[EDIT] From OcUK product page:

Are you ready to shed some light on your computer? Play with even more bling — customized by you. The Ballistix Smart Tracer features activity-indicating LEDs on the top edge and ground-effect LEDs along the bottom.

These Smart Tracer modules are available in either Blue/Orange or Red/Green LED color combinations that you can manipulate in real time, switching up the color options. In addition, select from four different LED patterns, adjust brightness, or turn the LEDs on/off. All of this can be done on-the-fly! Turn on the lights — and turn up your performance — with Ballistix Smart Tracer memory. Add to it the downloadable MOD utility, and you get the real-time temperature monitoring — and more!

I was just checking that out lol.

Saw on Youtube they are configurable using Crucial's MOD software.

You can choose activity flashes or various patterns, though I personally think the constant bright flashing would get annoying and as such would just turn the orange on and the blue off.
