Anything like Xfire but better?

Nothing better as far as I know, Gamespy's Comrade apparently offers a similar experience, but I believe doesn't support as many games, and only a fraction of those allow in game messaging.

Steam Community has great potential but it isn't there yet. There are two serious problems that hinder the experience. The first being that it is (or was, haven't heard of a fix yet) incompatible with Punkbuster enabled games. The second is that server information is not available to non steam games (although you can communicate in any game, with a much better interface than xfire).

I know xfire are working on a clickable in-game interface. For me, this cannot come fast enough, I cannot stand Xfires in game UI, it really is terrible.

some games have the clickable interface already, Guild wars does at least.

Xfire is great anyway.

So I hear, this really needs to make its way into a wider range of games. Has anyone used this UI? If so, could you possibly give us a short review, possibly with comparisons to Steam Community? Thanks

Xfire is the only option.

I thought Steam was for Steam games only though?

Steam Community allows you to add any application, this simply creates a shortcut in your Steam game list. The advantage is that anything run through Steam in this way can take advantage of the Steam Community overlay.

So steam works with any games, but not punkbuster ones?

Shame, would be nice to use it in bf2 :(

BF can technically use it, but at the moment punkbuster See's it as an unknown windows API, possibly cheats. I imagine it is only a matter of time before punkbuster updates to accommodate it. I haven't checked in a while, it could have been done already.
