No not really though. Borderlands is an RPG FPS but isn't really like Mass Effect.

Could try the other Bioware games but then they won't be at all similar in combat. Kotor should be your first port of call.

Story wise, Uncharted 1&2 if you have a PS3.

Alpha Protocol is very similar combat-wise to Mass Effect, with a similar levelling up system.

Please don't suggest that train wreck of a game. Possibly one of the worst games this generation IMO. Although yes kinda similar levelling up system.

Heavy Rain, either of the Uncharted games.

Alpha Protocol is similar though is more rpgey and is pretty good

It's a bit disappointing about the lack of "spacey" things going on in this gen. There is nothing like Elite/Freelancer/Wing Commander. The market should be screaming out for such goodies.

kotor 1 and 2 is the only thing similar that i know, though kotor 1 i think is nearly 10 years old! shame as just over xmas played me1 and 2 non stop and they've been best games i've played in a long time and now i feel sad as nothing to replace it with
