Anything that can get rid of pop up ads?

Evening all

recently i purchased my rig. however now that i have broadband internet i keep on getting pop up ads by vidshake, i have installed Microsoft essentials but i don't know what to do to get rid of it. its extremely annoying but i really haven't got a clue. what i could do to stop ads randomly popping up?

Would anyone know what i can do to get rid of the ads? I cant immediately get to my computer as im in Cyprus for the next week and a half however as soon as i get back i will be overclocking for the first time and i will be using any suggestions posted to get rid of the ads.

Is this only when you're browsing the internet, or all the time?

If in browser, try get Adblock Plus for Chrome/Firefox, stops all the ads.

Do you get the adds when you use a browser ? if yes get add block not sure if you can get that for internet explorer, but you can for FireFox and Chrome, i also use Ghostery to stop certain sites tracking me too

i have added adblock plus however it still keeps coming up. The misus recommended me adblock plus for both chrome and firefox however it still doesn't stop the ads popping up. i didnt get it for explorer because its slow comparing it with chrome and firefox

Is it popping up only when you're browsing websites, or even when the browser is closed?

for me it was strange as i have a msi 660 laptop and never got any pop up ads but i surfed the net a lot. after my facebook and hotmail accounts were hacked into i bought norton 360 as i was ****ed off because i had lost all everything on the web accounts.

so i didnt get any pop up ads so maybe i should just waste 60 quid and get something that will stop the ads for sure and last one year.

I use Simple Ad-Block for ie10 which seems to work ok.
I used Chrome for ages because of it's speed but ie10 seems to be very quick so I'm giving it a chance.

If its new browser windows popping up while you are just generally surfing t'interwebs then it sounds to me like you have some unwanted software sat on your machine. Get Atfcleaner, Malwarebytes and Superantispyware and run them one after the other. If you want to scan the machine further get a free trial of Kaspersky internet security and run that. Your machine might be clean....then again theres every chance its not =P

thanks a lot. i was also told by someone to remove all cookies so i will do everything once i get back to the uk

This, check your add-ons, you'll probably find something in there that is serving you ads.

Don't bother with the cookies thing, that won't make a scrap of difference for ad serving.
