hey guys i posted a few threads in the other forums asking about upgrading my HDD/graphics card but i only got a few posts saying it wasnt really worth it...

i have a bursary payment coming in soon and i'm really wanting to spend some cash on my rig, so i'm just gonna post my specs here and if anyone could recommend a worthwhile upgrade then please post :)

im looking at having around £3-400 cash spare, but im not really looking to jump to i5/i7 because i don't think i'll see that much of an improvement

specs:

Q6600 G0 @ 3.5ghz
1x HD5850 overclocked 775/1125
2x2GB ram 800mghz (slightly underclocked to 770 or something because of cpu)
3x320gb seagate barracuda 7200.10 (raid 0)

running a lot of games at 1920x1200 res, my monitors about 28inches, im just wondering is there anything worthwhile doing to it?

thanks

If you want to spend money, may be a secondary monitor. I quite like the dual monitor setup (Dell 2209WA + Dell 2407WFP). Or some nice stuff if something's lacking, like a keyboard or some nice speakers.

From your system, maybe xfire HD 5850, or a more powerful card (GTX 570, HD 6970) for high resolutions, but really I'd resist the temptation and put the money down for a more substantial upgrade later, as it is it looks pretty potent already, if not top of the line.

I have a HD5850 @ 1920 x 1200, but I'm not really playing anything 'that' demanding (BFBC2, TF2, L4D2, F3NV, stuff like that), or at least I'm not feeling the need to upgrade my card yet. I have a 1055T @ mild 3.2GHz with 1600MHz ram though.

My 5870 struggles a bit now a days. I game at 1200p and cant go above x2AA x 4AF in most games... you must be doing something different!?

There is a valid argument that new faster memory (eg some 1066) would make a difference, but its around £80 for 4 gig, I am mot sure you would notice the difference.

Personally I would crossfire it and buy a new psu.

Personally I'd leave it, and save the money for a big CPU/mobo/RAM upgrade. If you are desperate to spend some money now make sure it's something you will want to transfer to your Ivy bridge setup when that comes round.

Definitely don't bother with more/faster DDR2.
