Anything worth upgrading from a R9 280 with?

As title, I currently have a R9 280 (with a fair amount of coil whine to boot) and it runs most things well enough. Not quite as smooth as id like at 1440p though.

Is there anything out there really worth upgrading to or am I better off waiting for the next round of cards?

Ive never actually considered Crossfire, is it worth it?

If you have the power from your PSU, why not? You have enough VRAM to drive 1440p I would expect

hmm, would a XFX 650w be enough?

Specs being:

i5 3570k @ 4.3Ghz
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3
8GB Corsair XMS3 (1600mhz I think)
VTX3D R9 280
1 SSD, 1 HDD.
3 fans.

A 650W PSU would be pushing it I think
