Anything worth upgrading my system for?

Hi

I am currently thinking about upgrading my graphics card to a GTX 260, but there doesn't seem to be any games out at the moment or coming out soon that will justify the purchase of this card to be honest. As who knows when StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 will be released, StarCraft 2 possibly by the end of the year but GPU prices will have changed a lot by then so it would probably make more sense to wait?

Edit: I can play pretty much everything else on my 3850 at decent frame rates (bar maybe Crysis which runs at about medium but it's not that great a game anyway), Fallout 3, CoD4, Steam engine based games etc.

StarCraft 2 is designed for lan cafe PCs anyway, so don't expect that to have hefty requirements.

There's not really anything on the horizon at all worth upgrading for to be honest.

meh, i just did it to cure the itch :D. 8800gtx - gtx 275

Ill probably sell it on and get one of the new generation cards at the end of the year once the initial silly prices have dropped.

Yeah, that's the only reason I feel the need to upgrade at the moment, 'curing the itch' so to speak, like it would just be cool to own a GTX 260 instead of a 3850.

do it i say :p

If you've got the cash. Fortunately for me BFG 8800gtx's still seem to be fetching a nice price on a certain auction site :p

Well, I have a bit of money at the moment seeing as though it's just been my birthday, but I would rather not just blow it away in one fell swoop unless it would be worth it in the sense that I would be buying the card for a specific reason, eg. playing a lot of PC games (which I haven't really been playing any PC games lately either).

hm. I don't know. Lots of games coming out june/july. Next graphics cards will prob be august earliest. Nvidia's prob won't be round till Q4 and they will have hefty release mark ups for a month.

Don't know really. I know i can't live with the itch so i did it. I have no willpower :(

Considering that most newer games are console ports and the next generation of consoles are not due for a while yet I would imagine that graphics requirements will stay level for a while to come.

To be honest I find it easier to just buy the PS3 version of a game now rather than PC, unless there's a specific advantage like mods, which is why I bought Fallout 3 for PC. You can usually pick up a new PS3 game a week or so after the release now for around £30 or less.
