Hello there!

I have just got my own internet line through to my flat after sharing a BT line with some other people and i was just wondering how are O2? I'm sure google could answer this but i was just wondering what the general concensus was?

Because i'm with O2 on my phone i got £5 off my internet a month which is nice. The one bad thing is I'm not in an O2 area so i can't get the full 20MB connections, i had to go with the access account which will give me up to 8MB download and 448 upload.

Also, i was wondering what the wireless 2 box is like as a router? (i won't be using the wireless side of things as i have a 1TB Time Capsule with N draft) Should i replace this freeby router with a proper Netgear, I use a DG834 at the moment, or are they all pretty much of a muchness?

Thanks in advance.

likely that you're going to get issues with download speeds/high pings, as a fair few are :(.

use the netgear if you already have it.

o2 are excellent - compared to BT et al. Its a pity that you are having to use a BT provision - but if you must live in paradise I suppose one must be happy that there are lines at all! Check out the router a lot of picky information is written about the router - It aint that bad - though the Netgear with a broadcom chipset is better. I expect your local exchange is too small in numbers to be opened up by the likes of o2 or Talktalk etc

This on a not overly good line with a 44 attenuation so the cheapest package is all that I can use. I am on an openned exchange in Southampton

I recently moved to o2 access (2 weeks ago) and I have already used my MAC code and escaped within the 30 day money back guarantee.
Speeds and pings during peak times are really poor (sometimes 0.5MB on an 8MB line and pings in excess of 130ms to UK servers).
I'd recommend going with an ISP that has a cap such as Zen, IDnet or Newnet. If you don't do any downloading during the day then Plusnet would be worth considering.
