Anything wrong with this BF3 spec?

Onboard sound these days is very high quality, long gone are the days of Beeep Beeep Beeep.
mmm, thats a different view to what ive been reading on the sound part of this forum - i;d love to get a definitive answer
Depending on what you're putting on the 2TB drive you might want one with better performance than the WD Green.
For general storage it doesn't really matter too much.
If you plan on installing games or other programs on it then I suggest one of these:
Samsung SpinPoint F4 EcoGreen 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

For a average gamer without studio quality speakers/headphones etc the onboard is fine.
If your main use is audio production then I can see the benefit of a dedicated audio card (but not a crap £20 version) I just posted my X-fi Xtrememusic today after selling it on the MM, I havent used it since putting this Gigabyte board into my system and I dont miss it.
The X-fi Xtrememusic was a proper sound card unlike the cheaper X-fi cards that dont have the same processor such as the xtreme audio.

I have to agree with stulid there isnt much point in a dedicated sound card for the average gamer as long as its decent onboard sound. As said only reason is if you do a lot of sound work or you are spending hundreds on decent speakers rather than the average pc surround system.
how would you compare the quality from your card to the onboard?
Since August (when I put this Gigabyte board in and took the Asrock out) I have not missed the card.
Beware of the cheaper sound cards such as the xtreme audio, it doesn't have the same processor/features as the proper x-fi cards, I remember when these were first released and in the sound central section of this forum the cheaper cards were described as a Audigy in disguise.
The Titanium is one of the good ones
It's funny you mention the Xtreme music as I still have that card but I messed up the area where you screw it down due to a cheap case which wouldn't house the card properly. I'm using it now but would prefer to just get a new card, preferably the Titanium Fatal1ty as it's the cheapest shielded (decent) X-Fi card.
Sure the Creative drivers are crap, but they get the job done and I still love what I hear from them coupled with my basic Logitech 2.1 2300 speakers. I've had a Cambridge A5 amp with Eltax III mon's before and liked them just the same, so it's not really a question of wanting the best sound.
As for the 2 TB drive, I'll just be using it to store media files which won't be accessed often. The Seagate seems to have better writes than the WD, but I've always used WD and never had a problem so may just go that way. Thanks for the heads up.

Thinking of changing the build.
To afford the MSI GTX570 Twin III/SC, I will need to:
Swap Crucial 128GB m4 for the 64GB m4 model.
Swap the Corsair 500R case for the Corsair 400R Case
I also have the HX520W, not HX620W. Will this be enough power?

Cheers. I may change my mind though because every time I turn off my PC, the computer fans keep running and I have to manually turn off the PSU. =/
It's been like this for over a year now, so can't think why.

Sorry to butt in but this sound card thing is of interest as i currently use onboard sound and was considering a dedicated sound card myself..BUT not for better sound quality as my onboard sounds awseome...but for the reported increase in frame rates that some say you get as the card relieves the cpu of this task.
Is this correct? if so then sound quality isn't the only reason why people should consider upgrade.
I do have an unused creative soundblaster X-FI extreme gamer card and quoting from what it says on the box "The worlds most powerful audio processor can boost game performance by upto 15% over motherboard audio" wouldn't this be a good reason in itself to upgrade?

I'm sure there is no such feature, the PSU and all the fans and mobo lights continue to work until I eventually turn it off from the back of the PSU.
It's happened with the last two boards I've had, so it would be highly unlikely it was anything but the PSU.
I'll see if I'm still covered with RMA. I could possibly get a new PSU if mines out of stock. =D

That was sort of true when sound cards still relied on some CPU processing power back then, the X-fi's changed this and freed up the CPU.
Also I think certain games only benefited.
