Hi just wondered since UKonline looks good 20 quid per month, no caps/limits etc etc but 12 month contract. Is there any reasons not to join them apart from 12 months contract ?

Am currently debating Ukonline or ADSL24......

Thx

UKonline are excellent, been on their 2mb service for about 12months now and I have never had any issues, always constant speeds no problems what so ever.

they did have a time when their customer service went down hill a bit, but that all seems to have been sorted now.

I've been with them for about 18 months - 2 years and no complaints at all.

On their 2 meg service, slightly slower than cabel as in I'll get 1.7 megs but was told probably due to overheads etc etc.

Tech support is very good pretty sure it is a free phone number and is 24/7. Last time i called spoke to a tech support 'lady' who knew a LOT about network configuration, was very impressed.

Absolutely perfect.

Have had their 22mb service for 18 months and it hasn't gone down once and I always get max speeds for the line.

Well reccomended

Its either 20 quid per month of £35-67 quid for a similar line package :p

I just hope for 12 months they do me well and dont change there limts/policies !

Can fault them. Get a steady 8000/768 @£20 month no setup fee
For someone who has no need of great download speeds the £9.99 a month is wonderful
Don't forget the up is 768

My PC has been blamed countless times, even a fresh install using the provided Netgear DG834GT, they still think I have spyware . I get laged out of virtually every game I play, normally my local exchange (which has 5 other UKOffline members on) is slow to respond. Oh and the best part was, when my line was activated, the local exchange was dead for 3 days b4 they fixed it.

Thats hardly a terrible ping. What service are you on? If it is the 22mb then you will probably have interleaving on which is going to double your ping.

I play games on higher pings than that with absolutely no problems

The ping rates are fine, that's not the problem. ATM, I'm playing an RPG game (not WoW, hate it lol) and I lag the worst out of everyone. I've been through everything with technical support: Setting up static IP addresses, configuring the DNS, taking the face place off the master socket and trying the test socket, reinstalling, switching off the other PC, different firewalls and spyware scanners, reinstalling mutiple times, having interleaving (sp?) switched off, line caped to 8mb (from 17.5mb), noise margin raised (I now connect at 15mb) yet they refuse to fix the frigging exchanges.

If the exchanges were stable, and my ping was arround 200, I'd still be happy. The problem is with RPG games (especially this one) you can die in half a second if you don't react. When lag happens, I'm stood there like a plick for 30+ seconds till everything starts moving, at which point I'm dead, then I lag out.

Best part of it all is I've had the problems since the beginning, which was 2 months ago, and to disconnect me from their service, they want the remaining 10 months left on the contract @ £24.99 a month. They know where they can shove that. It also slows down randomly, for hours at a time, and this is when I'm typically lagging very bad. I have usenet subscription, and generally (sp?) i can get the line's max from 4 connections. When its having a bad evening, I'm lucky to get 700kb/sec from 20 connections. It normally floats between 150kb/sec and 800kb/sec, normally the lower half.
