Anything wrong with using those Xbox Live codes from auctions?

Yes it was me who ended up being suspended. I also bought from papyflo77. When I explained the problem I asked him to either to send me the valid card which MS would then use to validate my key and unblock my account or issue me with a full refund. I got the refund extremely quickly.

Really do proceed with caution. For me it wasn't the end of the world as I had only completed COD4 and had some Halo 3 saves, but some people really do value their gamertag so is it worth risking for £10?

I'm not saying you will have problems, but from what MS explained to me (after many, many calls and hassle) the guy seems to be using a key-gen.

If someone else purchases a shop bought code and it happens to be the same as the one generated from the key-gen, there is a good chance that they will call MS who will investigate why 2 codes have been used.

If you think how many millions of game time cards must be in existence the chances are small. However, I just don't see the point in risking your gamertag to save £10.
 
I didn't really have a clue, I just thought I was buying the code from abroad so that's why it was cheaper.
Gonna be living in fear for the next 12 months it seems :(

There's no way of transferring my saved games to another tag is there?
 
I contacted the seller and he scanned me a copy of the code. Looks legit unless he photoshopped it!

Feel a bit happier now.
 
I bought one bascially because i think the whole "live" thing is a complete rip off anyway.

Sooner I can get a media center PC in the living room the xbox is going back on the bay! :o

(I'm working on the media center as we speak.) :D

Don't care too much if I have been ripped off, as long as I can keep my Gamertag etc. The money lost is no big deal, just feel kinda foolish if I have been ripped off.

Why do you need Live to use your 360 as a media device?

Annoyingly, the 360 needs to check with Live before it starts playback of some video files, for no reason at all! Its fantastically stupid because the codec is obviously already on the system.

But I don't think you need a Gold subscription to do this? Should work with Silver as well. (I only have gold so can't confirm).
