Anyway for a ipad (child =5) to send messages

Hi

Reusing an ipad we no longer use (mini 2) for our 5 year old daughter.

Any way she can send messages to us on it ?
(Don't really want to go down email route quite yet )

Big workaround since you can’t iMessage

register WhatsApp on an old phone (needs a sim)

then use WhatsApp web on the iPad
