Anyway iof tweaking to get abit more download speed ?

Hi all, I am on BT 8mb and I am currently 2.83 kilometres as the crow flies so of course more than that.
On speedtest I get around 1600-1700 which I think a pretty slow download rate http://www.speedtest.net/result/184034453.png .
My line stats are as follows :
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 16.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 27.5 / 51.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 22.0 / 15.5
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 2,993 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
I am just wondering is there anyway that I could tweak the settings to get abit more download speed. I was going to switch to an LLU service only if I could get a better download speeds. Thanks caLz0

It could be that BT have set your IP profile to 2MB. Run this test, it will tell you what it's set to.

What speed are you syncing at?

IP profile for your line is - 1750 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 2176 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1626 kbps

It looks like BT have you on a 2MB Fixed rate product. I think you will have to phone them up and ask to switch you over to ADSL Max.

With them stats I would expect to get about 3 - 4mb.

Nope - if the OP was on home2000 the sync rate would be 2272/288.

Restart your router, and if it doesn't reconnect with an SNR margin at 6dB, get your ISP to get the target SNR margin reset. While you're at it, try connecting the router to the master socket with no extensions.

That said, you've more chance of finding the Borg on the Moon than getting any sense out of BT Retail.

it's not about money. you need a decent quality line for them to provide to you.

Update: I phoned BT up and asking for the SNR margin reset and they did'nt have a clue and also asked for the ADSL from the 2mb profile to max, they done that and it hasnt really improved. Contract finishes on the 24th so think I will be looking for a new ISP so any help would be grateful.
