I save a lot of emails into Windows folders by dragging them from Outlook into the relevant folder but it leaves the email in Outlook and if I dont manually delete it and notice it there later I then need to go back and check Ive actually saved the email where it should be.

Is there a way that when an email is dragged from Outlooks inbox it will also remove it from Outlook? Ive checked the settings but cant spot anything obvious.

Thanks.

Are you using POP or IMAP with your email?

Is it a Personal, Gmail, Yahoo!, Outlook.com email account?

I have multiples of the above (mine and the wife) and they are all IMAP email accounts accessed through Outlook 2013.

So when setting up local folders in Outlook, it Moves not copies the email and the resultant 'Sync' back to the Web Source deletes it off of each relevant account!.

Sim :)

Sorry should have mentioned I use Exchange.

I have a personal IMAP account also set up and tried to test it with one of my personal emails and it does the same thing and copies the email and leaves the original in place so there must be a setting somewhere if it moves it on your Outlook?

Edit, Im using Outlook 2010.

sorry i don't have an answer for your question but why don't you archive them to a .pst file instead? i think that's the "proper" way of doing it.

I put them into client specific folders so I can view various submissions etc The emails come through to me with no name on and only a reference so its much easier to put them into my existing client folders than have to try and cross check references etc.
