My housemate keeps using the internet and is proper downloading every single time not giving the other housemates chance to get on the internet and just do some general surfing because it slows it down well an truly. we have tried having a word with him but he doesnt seem to care. I know the router username / password but is there anyway to set a limit on his download speed so that others can use it at the same time rather then him throttling it.
he is using bittorrent i know that so could i disable the ports or something on his machine ?

As far as I know I am afraid there isn't on this router. At least there isn't on my non sky version.

Only solution is to replace it with a router that can, or just try and block the ports, however he could just set different ports.

You could try putting something like an ipcop or smoothwall box between the users and the router, but if everyone is using wireless to access the router directly then this wont work.

Tried filling his computer with jam?

There is no functions on the sky router itself to limit download bandwidth. As the above poster said, disable upnp, which means you manually have to forward the ports for applications to work.

Or you could download a bandwidth limiter and install it on his pc and it can be completly hidden to the user unleless he knows what he is doing.
