I decided to buy some classics off steam as they were so cheap. I have got oddworld and broken sword 2 and they do not fit my 24" monitor? anyway of running older games at my monitors native res which is 1920x1080?

Oddworld especially was made in 4:3 format, so you can't get it to full screen without any stretching being involved.

Some old games have fan communities that have made tweaks that allow widescreen high-res gaming (Doom and Quake come to mind), but I don't know about those games. But the Widescreen Gaming Forum, mentioned by flibby, is always worth a look.

If you use a dos emulator for broken sword you can force some post processing and it looks wonderful, oddworld as mention, is impossible to make look any better :(

I use a 4:3 aspect option on this 22" Samsung, looks alright because lower resolutions have a "smoothing" effect applied to them while still using most of the screen. 640x480 didn't seem too bad anyway.

your not gonna be able to get those games rendered in widescreen unless their cropped from 4:3, all the art would have been drawn up for that ratio and it would be impossible to alter that without stretching, cropping or re drawing every scene in widescreen
