Anyway to stop just one device updating drivers?

I have a Realtek usb DVB-T/DAB/FM dongle and running windows 8, the problem is the only way to get it to run is by turning off automatic update drivers in windows update and install the supplied drivers on the cd.

If I leave it turned on then it updates the driver to a version from 2009 and stops the DAB side from working, the cd version has drivers from 2012.

Is there a way of just stopping one device updating itself as it's a pain if I need to grab a driver off windows update it overwrites the 2012 driver with 2009.

Cheers.

SJ.

What I'd do is check the realtek website for a newer driver and install that. It may prevent WU from updating it

if you set windows update to show updates but not automatically install them, you can then right click it and hide it.

(this is based on what i know from earlier versions of windows - i'd presume 8 has the same feature)

when you've done this, you can put updates back on automatic again.

It's a Realtek 2832U device, I've looked on their website and they don't list a driver for it, the one I have is listed as 21/05/2012.

I'll try turning on auto updates but not installing them and see how that goes, but I don't think it's the same part as hardware drivers.
