AOC 4k monitor, and is the jump worth it

Does anyone have any info on the AOC 4k monitor? It is up for preorder on OCUKs store but I haven't seen anything else on it...

For those of you with 4k, has the jump been worth it? I have a 1440p PLS monitor so I don't know how big it will be going to 4k TN.

depends on what you want to do. if games, do you have the GPU power?

btw why not Samsung 4K?

1440 PLS is surely no bad setup. I would be wary of large TN panels where viewing angles come more into play. 4K PLS or IPS should be what you want for a good jump.

I have 2 290s in CF. I could power games. I am considering the samsung, I just haven't seen anything about the AOC and it looks just as nice. And yes, I've seen gregsters info on his Samsung, good guy-good review.

Aoc is the same panel as the Sammy, though the aoc looks to have a better stand, vesa support and some USB ports.

I would buy the AOC over the Sammy purely because I like to wall mount my monitors and the stand on the sammy does the job but not very well.

Asus and Phillips just released their 28 inch 4k monitors as well. Guru3d.com has them on the front page

Asus's one looks like it could be landing very early May (Like next week) from 2 ETA's on other E-tailers, maybe Gibbo can see if he's getting the Asus next week?

The other retailers are likely trying to harvest pre-orders is all. Lying about ETAs is not something OcUK does but it's fairly common elsewhere.

Normally I'd say that's the case ; Ala Amazon with the Samsung, but given the news outlets about the Asus, I'm intrigued, as one of the places tends to always have the latest date going on every hardware launch, for them to have an early one is quite unique.

Hoping the AOC one turns up sooner rather than later its the most interesting looking option of the ones soon to be on the market.

It's due out in early June in the UK. Late May for some parts of Europe.
