AOC e2795Vh Speaker Problem

Hi,

I have an AOC e2795Vh with speakers on it. The monitor and speakers works.

The problem I have is that when ever I plug headphones into the front of my computer, it will switch to the headphones and mute the speakers but won't switch back when I unplug them.

The only way to get the speakers working, I need to go to Playback Devices and it set it as default.

The monitor, I believe, is using a USB cable to get sound from the computer and not a stereo cable as when I unplugged it the music was still playing.

Does anybody know how I can get it to switch automatically?

Thanks,
Anthony

Are you sure the monitor is receiving sound via USB? I would have thought it more likely HDMI if that's the connection you're using.

Does the monitor have a headphone jack? I would think that's the simplest solution.

I think you are right, I am using an HDMI cable and when I pulled it out, the music stopped.

The monitor does have a headphone jack. The music stops playing from the speaker when I plug it in and starts playing in the headphones. As the jack is at the back of the monitor, it's not very practical. The monitor is also further that an arms length away from me.

Are you using an ATI graphics card?

If you are then ATI use their own audio built into the graphics card to provide sound over HDMI.

The headphone jack on your PC will be connected to the motherboard's audio or your sound card. They're separate audio devices from the ATI HDMI audio.

I imagine that what happens is when you plug in headphones Windows automatically switches over to your motherboard's audio or sound card but then doesn't switch back to ATI HDMI audio when you unplug them.

That is correct. Anything I can do to make it switch back automatically?

In all honesty I have no idea.

You could perhaps have a look at this.

If you set up a hotkey to switch to the ATI HDMI audio then hopefully when you plug the headphones in it will automatically switch to them as it does now and then when you've unplugged the headphones you press a single key to switch back to the monitor speakers.

Sorry, it's the best I can come up with.

Perhaps someone else will have a different solution.

Thanks. I'll have a go at this.
