hey there.

I have a AOC 2790PX (27" 144hz), got it cause it was cheap and cheerful and it was my first 144hz monitor etc, gotta say its a epic monitor! love it and the build quality is superb.

anyway, my old monitor was just a 60HZ cheapo, but i managed to overclock it to 85HZ using custom resolutions etc.

Iv tried to use the CRU tool to do the same again and also tried the AMD drivers to make a custom resolution for my AOC monitor to get past 144hz but with no sucess, AMD drivers say its not supported and windows doesnt display a custom resolution using CRU tool.

Does anyone know any other way i could try to get higher HZ than 144?

I play overwatch and im quite high ranked =D so anything higher than 144 would be a bonus for me especially as the games running at 200+ fps all the time.

thanks!

Some monitors seem hit and miss when it comes to overclocking, even if trying to go higher by say only 5hz. My Iiyama 24.5" 75hz is literally only able to up to 77hz so not worth it. Therefore I just stick to stock 75hz.

Not only that but in your case - 144hz is more than plenty as it is, and they say that anything past 144hz and beyond is not even noticeable because of how fast it already is.

How are you finding your AOC out of interest and the over all picture quality? I've got the temptation of upgrading to 144hz at the moment but I've got my eye on not only your model, but the Acer KG271 27" 144hz version but also the smaller version of your model, the AOC G2590PX.

Many thanks - Liam.

Aye its by far the best monitor iv ever had, in the past iv had 22" and 24" cheapest possible monitors. This monitor makes them look cheaper than they was lol. The build quality of this AOC is superb, its sturdy and the stand is phenomenal how easy it is to adjust etc. the picture qualitys the best by far iv ever had and the difference going to 144hz was amazing, for the price (i think i paid 190 cant remember where from tho) its a bargain. im content with it as i cant afford 500+ for a 240hz monitor. But now that iv been gaming at 144hz for a while and i know how massive the benefit is, i wish id have saved up for few more months and got a 240hz. the difference above 144 isnt as huge as going to 144 i know, but having 300fps in overwatch and only 144hz is a bummer knowing i could easily run a 240hz, it would help a lot in gaming, iv played overwatch on a 240hz monitor after i got my 144 and i was instantly jealous haha

Good to know, and you got yours for an absolute bargain by the look of it as these G2790PX's are retailing for £250 and beyond at the moment. I owned an AOC 25" IPS 1440p monitor early last year and I agree, the quality was excellent for the price as well as the picture quality.
