AOE 3 issues

Hey guys,

I cant get AOE 3 to install, I've triple checked my CD key and its correct..I cant get passed this issue. :mad:

As far as I've seen its something to do with permissions of the System32 file. And that I needed to manually add the file "mfc42.dll" to resolve this issue but no matter what I change in the permissions it wont let me install the game! . :mad:

Using Windows 8.1.

can you copy the file via elevated command prompt into the correct location?

are you running the installation as administrator? Right click the setup and make sure you choose run as administrator.

Make sure it's a fresh installation too, so no files or folders exist, cccleaner might help here.

Did you run the installation in administrator mode?

Ensure you have installed a Windows feature called DirectPlay. AOEIII won't work on Win8 without it.
