Didn't like it myself when I bought it. Sold it a few days later after trying to get into it. The game just felt too different to the first 2 games, plus the overly massive HUD was very annoying.
I havent played it much but what i have played isnt as good as the first and second one. I think becasue i prefer swords and spears and not guns and cannons!
Yeah it's a fine deal. The game is more of a classic RTS, with resource gathering and slow(er) startups, rather than something like COH for example where you just capture points. Personally I enjoy AOE3 more than AOE2 as it is a little faster paced and the card system makes for a lot of strategies.
The game is ok. But like many others here i struggled to get into it. I played it online with a mate once, but that wasn't much fun as we got absolutely battered! The other two opponents had a huge network of walls and gates on their island, and we couldn't see how they had managed to do it. Ahh well.
i really enjoyed it, it is different to the first two however if they had have done more of the same then they would be accused of being un-imaginative.
however my one gripe is with the skirmish battles, they are all well and fun but i do miss the variation of scenarios etc from the first two games
