Am going to look at a mate's comp tonight as his AOL connection has suddenly started disconnecting him every 3 or 4 minutes. He is using a USB modem (voyager 105) and says nothing changed when it started happening. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can check, are there any logs with AOL? Is there an alternative client I can try? Cheers

I got quite frustrated with using that modem, so I decided to buy a Speedtouch 330 modem instead, and that seemed, as if by magic, to solve the frequent disconnections I was having. Also get him to install Microfilters at each telephone point in the house, the main socket and also extentions, as that also seems to stop it disconnecting frequently
yes he's using aol software, is there an alternative?
Will try the below by disconnecting all other phones as don't think he has enough filters to go round, at least that will tell us if that is the problem.
He tells me that had a new HD put in and the disconnections stopped so I am assuming it must be something to do with the client or some spyware...
