my mums just looked and aol never sent her an email about any new t&c's however we are still being throttled and we keep getting mail about what we look at online......can we sue ? lol

Furthermore when do aol throttle bandwidth ? ive been downloading cnc3demo at 118kb/s for a few hours, and suddenly its limited to 50kb/s on all the servers i try it, the web is slow and no leechers on wireless (checked), does this mean its been throttled ?

what jump ship IMO, AOL are really really bad

they probably throttle connections at peak times, iirc between 8am-10pm

They are throttling, even on sunday now
Just got off phone with them and u dont even have to read the new t&c ,as long as they sent them then they can do what they like

When asked why i was being throttled i was told its because my pc is turned on 24hrs day therefore my connection is on 24hrs a day

3months t go then they can stick there connection.cant cope with 37KBps 7days a week when im usually trying to use it

Yeah its around 6pm according to loads of ppl on Think BB, you get loads of mail about what you look at online as their new T&C's state they can now pass on your details to all and sundry, they can install tracking cookies etc... onto your PC so when you look at adverts they can pass on your details to those relevant, so say you were looking at mobile phones, then they'll pass your details on to mobile phone suppliers so you'll get bombarded with mobile offers, and tehres nothing you can do about it now as the e-mail about the change stated that if yuo carried on using them after 1st Feb, then you would have agreed to all this. :(

They sent the e-mails about the changes at the start of January, and so you had 30 days (till the first of 1st Feb) to get out without penalty if you were still in contract if you didn't agree.

Have been wondering why my downloads were bit sluggish lately :( looks like AOL did kick it in, time to jump directly onto the next ISP and then kill it;)

So they use cookies to personalise advertising ..so do other well known sites... I let the other half use the laptop and ebay's main page shows me jewlery and handbags and other girly stuff today as opposed to bike/av/pc/car stuff I normally get greeted with. Now I agree passing on details to AOL partners leaves me a little uneasy BUT If you don't want to be marketed to then I think they make it pretty simple to opt out... I'd have liked it a whole lot better if you had to opt in but that's life.

Unless you tell us otherwise we may pass on your postal and telephone contact details to selected companies who may contact you by post (or telephone) to let you know about products and AOL Web Services that they think may be of interest to you. We'll only pass on your email, SMS and other similar forms of address where you've clearly indicated that you'd like this to happen. AOL will not rent or sell your Personal Information to third parties.
